How to: Install EmployeeFileBuilder on a Network
Installation
1. Install EmployeeFileBuilder on each workstation. Be sure to use a unique serial number for each workstation. If a single serial number is used for multiple workstations, the program will prevent those users from accessing the database simultaneously.
2. Your employee database consists of 2 files. One has a .MDB extension, the second has a .IDB extension. Both files need to be placed on the network drive.
3. If you are using the reports included with EmployeeFileBuilder, then your network setup is complete. If however, you are modifying/creating your own reports using Crystal Reports, then all of EmployeeFileBuilder's report files (those with .RPT extensions) must also be located on the network.
Workstation configuration
1. Once the database is on the network, your workstations must be configured to look for the database on the network.
2. At a workstation, open the SAMPDATA.MDB sample database. From the SETUP menu, select CONFIGURE. For the field labeled EMPLOYEE DATABASE, enter the path to your company's database .MDB file.
3. If you are creating custom reports and moved the .RPT files to the network, then enter the path to your report files in the REPORT DIRECTORY field.
4. Close and re-launch EmployeeFileBuilder. At the welcome screen, you should be able to click a button to open your company database.
